It is with mixed emotions that I say goodbye as an old friend retires from helping me. My bedazzled eye patch, which was my constant companion for many months, has been worn for the last time. Many of the jewels have fallen off. The elastic is stretched and broken and no amount of knot tying or safety pinning can fix it.
Though some would simply throw it away, I cannot. There are too many memories attached to this little piece of fabric. So, I will gently clean it up, place it in a bag and put it in my cedar chest. There it it will stay so one day I can show my children's children the famous patch from the pictures. :)
