A Repeat of Yesterday!

Today has been a day much like yesterday! Jodi stayed completely down except for two 60 second bathroom breaks. The lumbar drain continues...10cc's per hour. The spinal fluid leak is continuing as well, so we're not where we need to be yet. The muscle spasms continue. The pain continues. The challenges associated with just laying in bed around the clock continue.

The bright spots of the day have been all the wonderful and supportive comments that have come in on the blog, along with some special emails and calls. Each one has been a blessing! Each one has provided an uplift! Each one has made a positive difference! Thank you so very much! You are angels indeed! Your support is just as helpful to the family as it is to Jodi. Tears come frequently, but they are mostly tears of love and gratitude!

Jodi,
Just wanted you to know that we got your phone message this evening. Wow! You are amazing! Don't you worry about a thing. Nothing is more important than your health. You know that your pictures and the blog itself reminds of the difficult days with our Jodi. But it also brings the realization of brighter days in the future. We love you, pray for your each day and we are so happy your mom and dad could be there to help Tolan. Stay strong......tomorrow will be better.

Jodi,

You are always in my thoughts... Here is a poem I had read at John's graveside service... it resonates through many of life's tough experiences... "God has not promised skies always blue, flower-strewn pathways all our lives through; God has not promised sun without rain, joy without sorrow, peace without pain. But God has promised strength for the day, rest for the labor, light for the way, Grace for the trials, help from above, unfailing sympathy, undying love. Our love is with you and your family.

Love much, Stacie and Rich Fiet

P.S. This for sure qualifies for the "handicap" parking permit!

Jodi, my daughter's school has a special location on the grounds to kneel and pray. In the beauty of a blue-sky day, I thanked God for sparing your life. Now, I asked him, take the unbearable incessant pain away. This is the prayer my daughter Libby and I will continue to pray for you.

I need my techy "Star" to help me with the blog! I tried a couple of days ago but I can't see that it posted. Anyway, you are in our personal and families thoughts prayers. The old McKay-Dee team has been through a lot together and this is no exception. Please know of our love and admiration for you and your amazing abilities to get through hard things. So sorry for you pain, I can't imagine what your head must feel like and how hard it is for you to have to lay still, in the dark. I know that our Heavenly Father has and will continue to provide you with light and strength. Love, Joey

Jodi Tolan and Family, You are all in our prayers. Jerry and I have been out of town since Thursday. I could hardly wait to get home and get on the computer and see how you were doing. You still look beautiful even with that incision. We are thankful that the doctors are skilled and able to fix your tumor. Hope you continue to improve every day. Love Jerry and Carol DeGroot

Hi Jodi!!
This is Amber Toone. It has been too long since we have talked. I have been following your progress ever since you started the blog. Please know that I have been thinking of you and praying for you!!

I can't imagine the pain and frustration you are going through right now! I wanted to help, but haven't know how. Then I had a great idea!!! I'm going to try and distract you with a trip down memory lane.

I just got out my photo album from high school. There are a ton of people who say there is no way they would ever repeat high school. Not me! I had such a great time, I'd do it again in a heart beat!

The first picture I'm looking at is the Senior Sweater Dance where we are all holding our orange bb guns. This was probably my most fun dance. I loved going to the elementary school in Springville and doing our skits with the gang. Do you remeber Emily breaking the window in the gym??? Oops!! We had the picnic lunch and played army, followed by "Go you chicken fat go!".

The next one is our Spring Fling Dance where we hiked to Stewart Falls. The dance was at the Scera Shell on the stage and we took the pictures out behind. The girls were on all 4's with the guys standing behind us with one leg up. (Who thought of that pose? We should be the ones "conquering" the boys!!!)

Here are some of the things I remember doing with the "gang": Skipping school to go rock climbing and repelling. Listening to U2!!! Watching the movies that Brandon, Brett and Jeremy made (sometimes with Matt and Randy). (Did you ever see the one where they made a dummy and threw him off the center street bridge?) Playing murder in the dark in Clarks empty house. Going to the basketball games and the dances afterward!!

I loved grad night! Singing goofy karioke songs, playing miniature golf and taking crazy pictures.

How could I not love high school with the awesome friends I had!!!

Jodi, I hope this has been a bit of a distraction for you and that you have been able to smile on the inside, even if you can't on the outside yet. I will continue praying for you and know that you are being watched over.

Love,
Amber
